Indexing your documents is the first thing you have to do. WonderFox Document Manager can scan individual partitions or the entire hard drive for documents. When the indexing is complete, the program will display all found documents and you can use a search function to find specific items instantly. Besides viewing all documents in the same list, regardless of their format, you can also view Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files separately, by clicking a series of glowing tabs, located on the left side of the window.

The software allows you to create folders and sub-folders, in which you can move your documents, without affecting the actual files on the hard drive. The entire database can be backed up as a single file and loaded at any time, if you wish to undo certain changes. It is also possible to lock documents, to prevent unwanted modifications and to hide them. Hidden documents will still show up on the program's interface, but not in Windows Explorer. Furthermore, the application's interface can be password protected, so you can keep your important documents safe. Another useful feature is the possibility of encrypting documents. The password you create when encrypting a file for the first time will be used for all future encryptions and you can set a different password on a small window.
